Battlefield 6 Gamers Concur: Challenges Are Way Too Hard

The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 was met with broad praise, notably for its flagship multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, concurrent player counts reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over several of the title's toughest challenges, which are necessary to obtain particular firearms.

Users have commenced turning to personalized games created through Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, emphasizing just how arduous these assignments have become.

Grasping BF6 Tasks

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, in contrast to the frequently updated everyday and weekly missions. The game includes four categories of assignments, but although many only reward cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the sole method of acquiring 12 of the 41 primary weapons present in the game.

Several of these gated guns might eventually find their way on lists of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash via Reddit

On Reddit, players are reasonably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy some of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most extreme examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This mission is so awful and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it has significantly fewer positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

At the same time, firing an LMG without aiming is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at very short distances, which is seldom the location you prefer to be. The commenter also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that task would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Ridiculously Tough Task

One more community participant highlighted another ridiculously tough challenge, within the marksman rifle class to obtain the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with sniper rifles

This is tough enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at those extended distances.

There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game right now, it means you're limited to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and perhaps a classic map in a best-case scenario if you want to snipe from over 200m away.

The Workaround

There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to create personalized matches on whatever map you choose, complete with bots. This allows you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.

However, when tackling the tasks in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an atypical style that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for completing them in a custom game so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Future Adjustments

It is expected if a number of these missions are made easier in the next few updates, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply will never acquire the restricted guns.

Currently, the player base continues to voice their opinions on these strenuous in-game tasks, hoping for a fairer player experience in coming revisions.
