One 60-day cruise around the Australian Coast is being halted in the wake of the tragic passing of an older lady who was stranded by the ship on a remote coastal location.

The passenger had been trekking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but broke off from the excursion for a rest. The liner left without her and returned after some time after the personnel discovered the lady was unaccounted for.

An extensive hunt located her remains the following day.

Officials are looking into the event, together with police and the official investigator.

Chief Executive of the cruise operator announced that guests and personnel on the vessel were informed that the rest of the voyage had been called off due to the "unfortunate death and earlier technical problems".
